Humaster Secures Business License in Thailand, Establishing the Business Development in Southeast Asia
Eco-friendly dehumidification and cooling specialist Humaster has officially obtained a Foreign Business License (FBL) from the Thai government, setting the stage for a full-scale expansion into the Southeast Asian market backed by its technological expertise.
The FBL is a foreign business license issued to companies seeking to operate in Thailand. Typically, when establishing a local subsidiary, foreign firms must pursue joint ventures with local partners holding at least 50% ownership. However, companies with an FBL are permitted to operate as foreign-owned entities.
The Thai Ministry of Commerce grants FBLs only after a strict evaluation process, considering factors such as:
- potential for technology transfer,
- local job creation,
- fair competitiveness with Thai companies,
- investment impact, and
- environmental contributions.
Humaster’s successful acquisition of the FBL demonstrates that it has met all these criteria. Approval is particularly significant in Thailand, where protection of local businesses is strong and approvals are usually limited to franchise sectors. Humaster stands out as the only manufacturing company to have officially received the FBL—proof that its core technology is recognized by the Thai government.
Humaster develops and distributes high-efficiency cooling systems based on desiccant dehumidification technology, which can reduce cooling energy consumption by up to 40% compared to conventional methods. The technology is especially well-suited to the hot and humid climate of Southeast Asia.
Kwang-hyun Park, Head of Business Operations at Humaster, stated, “This Foreign Business License acquisition signifies that Humaster’s technology has been officially trusted by the Thai government. Having secured a strong foothold for entering the Southeast Asian dehumidification and cooling market, we plan to actively expand from Thailand into Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and beyond.”
Moving forward, Humaster intends to strengthen its brand recognition in Thailand by securing local demand and completing the development of its next-generation desiccant dehumidifier, Humicon Plus—equipped with temperature control—by 2026, before expanding operations throughout Southeast Asia.
