Humaster Received Chairman’s Award from the National Research Council of Science & Technology at 2023 Korea Innovation Startup Awards.
Humaster Co., Ltd. (CEO Dr. Lee Dae-young), a company specializing in desiccant-based dehumidification, cooling, purification, and ventilation solutions, announced that it received the Chairman’s Award from the National Research Council of Science & Technology at the 2023 Korea Innovation Startup Awards held on November 8.
The Innovation Startup Awards, hosted by Seoul National University, KAIST, and JoongAng Holdings, and supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, recognizes deep-tech startups. Winners are selected based on the innovation, growth potential, and achievements of their R&D-driven technologies.
Through its desiccant dehumidification cooling technology, Humaster is addressing both the global climate crisis and carbon neutrality goals while also offering solutions to extreme heat. Its technology reduces energy consumption while enhancing occupant comfort, expanding its reach as an optimal sustainable solution.
The company has achieved a “grand slam” in technology certifications, obtaining all four major government certifications related to new technology and new products:
- Green Certification (Ministry of Environment)
- NET (New Excellent Technology, MOTIE)
- NEP (New Excellent Product, MOTIE)
- Excellent Performance Certification (Ministry of SMEs and Startups).
In addition, Humaster was selected as one of the Top 10 Mechanical Technologies of the Year in 2018.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, market demand has shifted beyond simple heating and cooling toward healthier indoor air environments—reducing airborne bacteria, viruses, and improving air quality. Humaster is leading this change with its multi-functional solution, Humicon, which integrates:
- Ventilation & purification functions to control indoor CO₂ and fine dust levels, and
- Desiccant cooling technology that lowers humidity (instead of temperature) to achieve comfort with superior energy efficiency.
CEO Dr. Lee Dae-young stated, “Humicon provides the most energy-efficient path to comfort while contributing to greenhouse gas reduction. Our goal is to expand supply both domestically and globally, contributing to the healthy coexistence of people and the planet.”
Meanwhile, Humaster was selected as a “Baby Unicorn” company by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2022 and as a Government Excellent Procurement Product by the Public Procurement Service in 2023, affirming both its technological competitiveness and business potential.
