Humaster’s ‘Desiccant Dehumidification’ Technology Earns New Technology Certification

250% Efficiency Compared to the Global No.1 Product, 65% Power Consumption Savings

Humaster Co., Ltd. received the New Excellent Technology (NET) Certification from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Korean Agency for Technology and Standards for its “Low-Temperature, High-Efficiency Dehumidification Technology Applying Polymer Desiccants.”

The newly certified technology eliminates the need for defrosting operations even at low temperatures (5℃) and demonstrates 1.3 times higher dehumidification efficiency at room temperature (27℃) compared to conventional electric dehumidifiers.

This technology achieves over 3.6 times higher efficiency than other desiccant dehumidifiers that use electric heaters. Its superior performance originates from the SDP Desiccant Rotor technology, a material capable of regeneration at temperatures below 50℃.

Humaster, a spin-off from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) specializing in desiccant-based dehumidification, purification, and ventilation solutions, holds advanced desiccant cooling technology that not only removes indoor humidity for comfort but also reduces energy consumption—providing optimal solutions for sustainable indoor environments.

In 2020, through the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Testbed Demonstration Project, the company validated improvements in cooling energy efficiency and indoor air quality. In addition, its flagship product Humicon (Humidity Conditioner) has been recognized with Korea’s four major government certifications—New Excellent Technology (NET, MOTIE), New Excellent Product (NEP, MOTIE), Green Certification (Ministry of Environment), and Excellent Performance Certification (Ministry of SMEs and Startups). Furthermore, in 2023, Humicon was designated as an Excellent Procurement Product by the Public Procurement Service and selected as a Baby Unicorn Company, accelerating its expansion into carbon neutrality and ESG-driven energy innovation markets.

As the first company supported by SK Group’s SV Project, Humaster developed solutions targeting the frosting issues of industrial electric dehumidifiers at low temperatures and the low efficiency of conventional desiccant dehumidifiers. Leveraging this technology, the company successfully developed a dehumidifier to prevent iron oxide formation in power plant boilers, achieving 250% dehumidification efficiency compared to the global top product while reducing power consumption by 64%. The technology has been validated in real operations, supplied to SK E&S power plants, and is set to be expanded across SK Group facilities.

CEO Lee Dae-young stated, “With our low-temperature desiccant dehumidification technology, we aim to expand domestically and internationally, particularly in manufacturing and logistics facilities. As we move into full-scale production and sales next year, we will do our utmost to ensure tangible results and contribute to broader market adoption.”
